History of Department:

Establishment: –

Hindustani Education Society’s Sharadchandra Mahavidyalaya, Shiradhon Tq. Kallam Dist. Osmanabad-413528 was established in the year 2001 and in the same year, the department of English comes into existence. The Department of English is working under the Faculty of humanities. In our department, the students take admission as per the University rules. Since 2005 Mr. Kazi Z. A. and Mr. Gambhire P.U. (since 2009) are working as full time teachers in the department. Mr. Kazi Z. A. is Head of the department of English. Both are interested in literature, phonetics, literary theories and both have a very sound academic background. Both have been awarded M. Phil. and presently working on Ph. D. in English. Our faculties are experienced and very well-versed. They are working hard and dedicated towards achieving newer horizons in the field of education and research.

B) Importance: –

Our department offer courses in English subject for B.A I, II, III classes. The department offers only UG programs. So far maximum numbers of student have completed their B.A. degree studying English at graduation level in the college. Most of the students of our department have been Teachers and Assistant Professors and doing jobs in different fields. The Department of English sensitizes students towards language and literature learning. The Department also conducts Skill enhancement courses. Our faculties are not only carrying assigned work efficiently but also committed to academic growth and development of the department.

Objectives: –

  1. English is an International language and also the official language of our country. Majority of the Indian population uses English. It has been enjoying local recognition as well.
  2. Our Department aims in providing a good platform for the students to acquire good Knowledge of English language and literature.
  3. It also helps the students to get an exposure to functional aspects of English.
  4. Guest Lectures are organized to help the students to understand the beauty and trends of English literature as well as career and functional aspect of the English language.
