History of Department:-

Department of Economics established in Sharadchandra Mahavidyalaya, Shiradhon on June 2001, as college opened. The department of Economics is working under the Social Science Faculty. In our department, students take admission as per the University rules.

Osmanabad District in Maharashtra is considered as India’s 3rd backward District and Kalamb Tahsil and Shiradhon village belongs to the same District. Students of our college are from Minority community and economically backward class. That is why our faculty tries to guide them in the field of professional skills to fulfill their daily needs. Our faculty also tries to guide them in the field of professional skills to fulfill their daily needs. The department of Economics is dynamically involved in the process of teaching, learning and evaluation since its establishment. It has been always determined to increase the level of quality education understanding various kinds of curricular and co-curricular activities for the students. We organize various extracurricular activities to enhance their knowledge. For this we conduct the tours to visit Sugar factories, Bank, etc. Department of Economics sensitizes students towards different fields of economics to promote future professionals in the fields such as education research business, and publishing.

 Objectives:-

1. To develop interest for the Economics subject among the students.
2. To give the knowledge about importance of Economics in day to day life.
3. To awareness about current economic situation in the economy.
4. To encourage students for competitive examinations like UPSC, MPSC, Banking, Insurance, etc.
5. In the age of the globalization and new economic policy, decision is most important factor which is created by Economics Department.
6. To serve need of knowledge of computer in 21st century and its application in the study of economics.
